Galatians

3 : 1 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you?It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publiclyportrayed as crucified.
3 : 2 Let me ask you only this:Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or byhearing with faith?
3 : 3 Are you so foolish?Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected bythe flesh?
3 : 4 Did you sufferso many things in vain&emdash;if indeed it was in vain?
3 : 5 Does he who supplies the Spirit to you andworks miracles among you do soby works of the law, or by hearing with faith&emdash;
3 : 6 just asAbrahambelieved God, and it was counted to him as righteousness?
3 : 7 Know then that it isthose of faith who arethe sons of Abraham.
3 : 8 And the Scripture, foreseeing thatGod would justifythe Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying,In you shall all the nations be blessed.
3 : 9 So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
3 : 10 For all who rely on works of the law areunder a curse; for it is written,Cursed be everyone who does notabide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.
3 : 11 Now it is evident thatno one is justified before God by the law, forThe righteous shall live by faith.
3 : 12 But the law is not of faith, ratherThe one who does them shall live by them.
3 : 13 Christredeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us&emdash;for it is written,Cursed is everyone who is hangedon a tree&emdash;
3 : 14 so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham mightcome to the Gentiles, so thatwe might receivethe promised Spiritthrough faith.
3 : 15 To give a human example, brothers:even with a man-made covenant, no one annuls it or adds to it once it has been ratified.
3 : 16 Nowthe promises were madeto Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say,And to offsprings,referring to many, but referring to one,And to your offspring,who is Christ.
3 : 17 This is what I mean: the law, which came430 years afterward, does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so asto make the promise void.
3 : 18 For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; butGod gave it to Abraham by a promise.
3 : 19 Why then the law?It was added because of transgressions,until the offspring should come to whom the promise had been made, and it wasput in place through angelsby an intermediary.
3 : 20 Nowan intermediary implies more than one, butGod is one.
3 : 21 Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? Certainly not! Forif a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would indeed be by the law.
3 : 22 But the Scriptureimprisoned everything under sin, so thatthe promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be givento those who believe.
3 : 23 Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law,imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed.
3 : 24 So then,the law was ourguardian until Christ came,in order that we might be justified by faith.
3 : 25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian,
3 : 26 for in Christ Jesusyou are all sons of God, through faith.
3 : 27 For as many of you aswere baptizedinto Christ haveput on Christ.
3 : 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slavenor free,there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
3 : 29 Andif you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring,heirs according to promise.
