Colossians

1 : 1 Paul,an apostle of Christ Jesusby the will of God, and Timothyour brother,
1 : 2 To thesaints and faithful brothersin Christ at Colossae:Grace to you and peace from God our Father.
1 : 3 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,
1 : 4 since we heard ofyour faith in Christ Jesus and ofthe love that you have for all the saints,
1 : 5 because ofthe hopelaid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before inthe word of the truth, the gospel,
1 : 6 which has come to you, as indeedin the whole world it isbearing fruit and increasing&emdash;as it also does among you, since the day youheard it and understoodthe grace of God in truth,
1 : 7 just as you learned it fromEpaphras our belovedfellow servant. He isa faithful minister of Christ on yourbehalf
1 : 8 and has made known to us yourlove in the Spirit.
1 : 9 And so,from the day we heard,we have not ceased to pray for you, asking thatyou may be filled with the knowledge of his will in allspiritual wisdom and understanding,
1 : 10 so asto walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.
1 : 11 May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, forall endurance and patiencewith joy,
1 : 12 giving thanksto the Father, who has qualified youto share inthe inheritance of the saints in light.
1 : 13 Hehas delivered us fromthe domain of darkness and transferred us tothe kingdom ofhis beloved Son,
1 : 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
1 : 15 He is the image ofthe invisible God,the firstborn of all creation.
1 : 16 For byhim all things were created,in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whetherthrones ordominions or rulers or authorities&emdash;all things were createdthrough him and for him.
1 : 17 Andhe is before all things, and in him all thingshold together.
1 : 18 Andhe is the head of the body, the church. He isthe beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.
1 : 19 Forin him all thefullness of God was pleased to dwell,
1 : 20 andthrough him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peaceby the blood of his cross.
1 : 21 And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds,
1 : 22 he has now reconciledin his body of flesh by his death,in order to present you holy and blameless andabove reproach before him,
1 : 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting fromthe hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimedin all creationunder heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.
1 : 24 NowI rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my fleshI am filling upwhat is lacking in Christ's afflictionsfor the sake of his body, that is, the church,
1 : 25 of which I became a minister according tothe stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known,
1 : 26 the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints.
1 : 27 To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles arethe riches of the glory ofthis mystery, which is Christ in you,the hope of glory.
1 : 28 Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, thatwe may present everyonemature in Christ.
1 : 29 For thisI toil, strugglingwith all his energy that he powerfully works within me.
